A conversation with Norwegians… Tuesday 30th August
The day dawned calmly and serenely, with only the sound of the tide gently lapping on the rocks breaking the silence.
Until….yyyying ting ting ting….yyyyiiiing ting ting….pop pop pop bang …silence. (Then more tinny lawn mower noises etc). It appears that Norwegian yoofs are just as inconsiderate and annoying as the ones back home. 😂. We think his trials-type bike was suffering from fuel starvation…but he kept on trying. He was close to suffering with ‘fuel starvation’ if Richard or John had laid hands on him!
After a breakfast of Norwegian sausage sandwiches - (veggie Lynn had weetabix and fruit) - a couple of locals ventured over, looking at the Lynn and John’s motorhome’s numberplate and shouting “vive la France” and “we still remember the war” (ooooh blimey!). We had quite a long chat with them about all sorts, and the one guy had just come in from a fishing trip. He said he was going over to see the Thai ladies and give them crabs. Hmmmmm. Interesting. Then he offered to show us his crabs. There were 5 of them and they were huuuge. It turns out that a lot of the local Norwegian men are married to Thai ladies, who like crabs. Who knew?! They tried talking football to us…to no avail which puzzled them. We said we liked rugby and motorsport…. and the conversation petered out…lol. We were surprised they liked football, as in our experience there is very little flat land in Norway that isn’t covered with water.
Lynn, John and I played scrabble tonight whilst Richard had a snooze; scores as on the pic….I lost very badly, but enjoyed playing as it brought back memories of scrabble games with my dad where I usually lost too!
Tomorrow may be a day of stocking up with food ready for our arctic trek, sorting out Lynn’s bread cupboard and finding Bertie a warmer dog coat!

I see no rude words on the board! 🤣😂
