A Teepee, a Sciurus Vulgaris and waffles - Sunday 28th August
It is a week today since we left home on our Great Adventure - and we have experienced so much in such a short frame of time, it has been an amazing journey so far and woo hoo! we have another 6 weeks to go!
Tomorrow we are still heading towards the Arctic Circle and have more places to visit en route, thanks to information received from the site owner where we are staying tonight.
We have had a lovely, partly lazy day today - and by that I mean no driving for the boys, however we have all been doing chores, including clothes washing and drying, changing beds, checking oil and water levels on the bobils, emptying the loos and other stuff too boring to mention. Hahahaha!
BUT!!!
We saw a red squirrel today! He came so close to Lynn and I (I was holding Bertie at the time and tried to keep him facing in the opposite direction 😂), that we thought he wanted to talk to us. Talk about a Beatrix Potter moment. Magical. Lynn managed to get pics of him whilst he examined a box of Johns stuff on the bench, then leapt up my drying trousers, commando crawled across the washing line (think theme tune to Mission Impossible) before walking down Richards polo shirt! A beautiful few minutes.
The site we are on is mainly used during the winter; apparently it is covered in snow here from November to May and they have a ski drag lift next to where we are parked, to bring visitors back up the steep hill. The owner and his family are very helpful and friendly - they invited us to a coffee and waffle afternoon in the teepee today.
His wife was making waffles which you were encouraged to cover in jam and cream and the delicious coffee was made in a big black kettle over the open fire. We were made to feel very welcome. It seems the site is mostly visited by Germans and they apologised for speaking German to us instead of the Queens English, as they are mostly speaking German on a daily basis. 😂 How embarrassed are we that we speak no Norwegian, Danish, Dutch and only a smidgen of German..? And how lucky that everyone here speaks extremely good English.
However I did wonder who had left a dry towel hanging out of the tumble dryer….was it done to reserve the machine…?
High (brrr) 12 degrees, low 6 degrees. Mileage 0.

Glad to see that there are no photos of the squirrel burying his nuts in Johns under crackers. 😳🤣😂
ReplyDeleteWe couldn’t post them due to it being adult content 😂
